Philip Yenawine has been engaged in museum education for fifty years, ten of which years were spent as director of education at MOMA, NY. He writes about art and has many books, most of them addressing issues germane to beginning viewers, including children. He is co-creator (with cognitive psychologist Abigail Housen) of Visual Thinking Strategies, a method of using art to teach thinking, language, and the social skills that lead to successful collaboration. He
is on the board of Art Matters, a foundation supporting contemporary artists and a former board member of Elizabeth Streb's SLAM, John Kelly Performance Group, and Creative Time. He was on the original steering committee of VisualAIDS and co-founder of Day with(out) Art. He is Creative Director of the Watershed Collaborative, a nonprofit organization that uses online means to disseminate VTS.
This discussion is a continuation of the series, The New Conversation, that began with David Ross.
The plan is to discuss the possible nature and form of this new conversation in the art world at this moment and also what it might be post-pandemic.
I want you to come because I want you to ask questions.
