2018 – art STUDIO, happening at 3 137 project-space in Athens
“The oldest profession is the most honest, for it exposes the bare bones of what civilization is all about. It’s the root of all professions.” -Daniel Suelo
Beneath the exterior of watches and wallets, handbags and hairdos, humans exude the same primal energy that every other animal on the planet possesses. We have simply become quite good at hiding this from each other, even from ourselves. In our most private moments, those rare times when we are sure no neighbor might see through the curtain, perhaps we let the animal inside of us loose for a moment. Only to quickly and carefully pack it away again and resume the facade of civilized
society.
Pennie Key lives and works in London but spoke to us from San Francisco where she was spending time enjoying the city. In her practice she is focused on two projects. One is a performance she began writing last year. The performance explores many aspects of family – particularly topics linked to the middle class, puritanism and
patriarchy. Family secrets play a large part in the monologue performance. As a day job, Key is a sex worker. To hear more about her work, art and life, listen to the complete interview.
Jeffrey Yang is a writer. He is presently working on essays he has been writing over the course of several years. Yang is also the author of three poetry books as well as being a literary translator. To hear more from Yang, including live readings of his poetry, listen to the complete interview.

We devote a lot of time to telling you just how you should be managing your time and, in turn, you discover that a lot of your time needs to be devoted to things that aren’t necessarily your artistic practice. For those who are new to the development of an art career, this can be...

These are positive and / or negative reviews of galleries, art fairs, consultants, writers,
online pay to play offers, residencies and more – all written by artists so that other artists can beware of situations where institutions treat artists badly, or that end up costing the artist money or are outright scams.
