you have nothing to lose and $50,000 to gain.

I want to make sure that you are aware of this, because there is no need whatsoever for self-sabotage or limiting beliefs. All you should feel is excitement!

These past pandemic years were tough for everyone. Despite its challenges, 185 applicants out of 3000 won the grant in 2023.

A large number of applicants will win in 2023 as well. This means that there are plenty of opportunities for you to win too, but only if you apply.

As one of my winners, Dara, said, “It means that somebody’s believing in you enough, you know? [It means] that you have the money to go forward with things you’d like to - that you had no ability to do without it.”

Here’s some of her work:

If you’re worried because you’re unsure of what the judges are looking for, don’t be. I can help you like I’ve helped my other winners in the past. I know what a winning application looks like, and I’ve helped my artists replicate it in their own way over and over again.

There is no such thing as failure when it comes to applying for the Guggenheim Grant. Either you win, or you learn lessons to use when you re-apply next year. It really is that simple.

One of the artists I worked with won this year using what she learned from our time together in the year before that, when the same application did not win.

When you work with me, by learning how to apply for the grant in the most effective way possible, you can improve your chances of winning other grants too.

One of my winners, Vicky, applied for the Grant twice prior to working with me. This is what she had to say.

“I think I applied twice before and just the way you go about [the application process],  you’re very direct about what you have to do and how to approach it. I was looking back at some emails of friends who were writing for the Guggenheim and sent me their writings not knowing how to approach the narrative. So I really can’t thank you enough for what you did, because it just helped me tremendously, you know? Well, obviously--I would have not gotten it without you. Really, I don’t know how to thank you. You’ve been tremendous in this.”

It turns out that all she needed was a bit of guidance on how to approach the narrative to win the grant. That’s it.  If she had chosen not to apply or had given up, she would never have been in this position. She remained optimistic, and now she has achieved her goal!

Here’s a sample of her work, she is a photographer.

I want you to see that it is possible for you too. Please do not let fear or procrastination stop you from applying for this incredible opportunity.

I’m honored that I could take part in her success, and I look forward to helping other artists win this life changing grant in 2023, like you, if you are interested.

Due to the increased demand for my services, I am opening up ten spaces instead of seven this year. The spaces are taken up on a first come first serve basis.

If you are interested, please reply to this letter to find out the fee structure for hiring me and ask any other questions you may have. I cannot take on more than ten artists, and spaces are already beginning to fill up (4 spots already taken), so please be in touch as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Brainard Carey
