Guggenheim Grant 50K + Interested?

Published: Mon, 07/31/23

If you apply for The Guggenheim Fellowship for Artists, you might get it.

That means you could have an extra 50,000 (fifty thousand) dollars more or less, with no strings attached.

Does that sound improbable to you?

It’s not. I have personally edited and worked on the Guggenheim Grant with six artists that received it, so I know what a winning application looks like.

Out of the ten artists I worked with last, two received it--Vicky Sambunaris and Dara Birnbaum.

The good news is that there is no pre-screening, so all applications are reviewed, as long as you are a resident of the U.S or Canada and not a student.

I am a writer and help with this application is one of the services I offer, once a year. It’s been a difficult year for everyone, and luckily the Guggenheim is still giving out these grants.

Here is a quote from a letter that one of my previous winners, Marsia, wrote to me when she got the news that she received it:

"I am honored to have received the Guggenheim!!! It was a thrilling and wonderful experience to get it. Thank you for your good help in this. You made some very important recommendations to the proposal which is why I think it was a success this year. Also, having the security that you read it and approved of it was helpful and comforting. You know the art scene in NYC and it felt a little stronger with you backing and editing my proposal. I think you are doing an incredible job encouraging people."

If you would like to work with me, please reply directly to this email to learn about my fee structure. When you work with me, I look closely at your art and your history to help you shape your presentation. I then help you apply using the expertise that has helped my five previous winners receive their grants.

Or you may also just start doing it yourself by downloading the application which will be posted on August 18th - it is due on September 16th, 2023, in a little more than a month.

If you have applied before and not gotten it, try again. The majority of the artists I have worked with who won it had applied before as well and were turned down multiple times.

Also, you should know, this grant is juried by artists, so you are judged sensitively on your art, as only a fellow artist can do.

I work with a total of ten artists on this on a first come first served basis and then it is closed. Two spots have already been taken so I have eight spots left.

If you have any questions or if you would like to work with me, please reply to this email as soon as possible to ask about my fee structure.

Sincerely,

Brainard Carey
