(Time-sensitive) Do THIS to get “discovered” by a powerful curator in the next 30 days
Published: Wed, 12/05/18
The odd thing is...
I have interviewed over 679 all over the world for Yale University Radio, and this is the strategy they all used to get their “breakthrough moment”.
I call it the “Alternative Spaces Method”, and it’s easier and less expensive than applying for juried shows that cost money to be in AND it gets you better recognition.
The workshop is structured as a 30-day challenge with tangible action items you can take to get your work discovered by curators (even if there are very few galleries where you live and most of them are awful).
It is premium content I created for paying customers of the Praxis Center Membership programme, and for the next 72 hours only I’m going to give you free access to it.
Here is why I’m doing this:
Over the last couple of months, I noticed a disturbing increase in the number of artists getting “scammed” by pay-to-play shows and publications.
They pay all this money to be in these shows and publications that won’t actually help them to become a part of the conversation or even to make more sales.
For example, you pay to be in a publication that sounds like it is juried but it’s actually you paying for an advertising spot in someone’s magazine that no curator reads.
This is disgusting.
For one thing, it’s dishonest. For another, the Art World shouldn’t be about paying to get your way in.
I hate it when the market takes advantage of well-meaning artists’ desire to share their art with the world.
Perhaps this happens because nobody in art school teaches you how the art market really works. So most artists have tunnel vision on commercial galleries as the ONLY way to access the Art World. This makes them easy targets to exploit by people who pretend to be well-respected gallerists.
In short, I created this workshop because I wanted to show artists that there are alternative avenues they can explore which are on a par with or even better than getting exhibited by a prestigious gallery (and then give them an actionable roadmap they can follow to get their work into these alternative spaces).
For the next 72 hours, I’m going to give you free access to the workshop recording so that you can join the challenge and follow along on your own even if you’re not a paying member of the Praxis Center.
That said, if you want specialised support to help you implement the challenge, then go here and enrol in the Praxis Center Membership programme.
If you’re short on time…
Know that as a Praxis student, you’ll get almost-done-for-you templates and word-for-word scripts for all of the action items I teach in the challenge workshop.
If you want to make sure that you’re implementing the action items correctly…
Know that as a Praxis student, you can ask me directly in the group and get personal feedback.
If you want accountability…
Know that as a Praxis student, you’ll be tackling this challenge with other artists of a high calibre who are as serious and good as you. We’ll cheer you on, we’ll keep you accountable and we won’t let you fall off the wagon.
Of course, in addition to help with this specific challenge, you also get everything else that’s included in the Praxis Center Membership when you join… which is, basically, everything you need to make it in the Art World organised in one place.
You can learn more about the Praxis Center Membership programme here.
Here’s to your continued success as an artist!
