One more thing for starving artists to stress over??
Honestly, I am not worried about AI taking over the arts.
Yes, they can stay up all night- eg: paint tirelessly 24/7 with pinpoint accuracy. But can they express vulnerability or enthusiasm or a poetic idea? They won't take over human artists, i.e., that can’t feel anything emotional or psychological.
Besides, AI might actually create new jobs for human artists - the same way the emergence of photography created an entire industry.
Initially, neither photographs nor videos were considered real art, but eventually they earned their own space in galleries and respect from critics.
They also created a world of photographers, cinematographers, directors, editors, and new kinds of galleries.
So, no, I am not worried about AI artists ruining art careers.
Here is what I *AM* worried about though:
Being complacent and missing out on the switch to selling art online.
The longer you wait to sell online and fix your website, that many more sales are lost forever.
In this case, waiting to sell online literally costs you money.
Quite frankly, I find it a bit sensationalist to panic about robot artists driving us out of the art market...
... when we should be more worried about the very human artist next door selling a painting a day, online, on autopilot, without leaving her studio.
