[Audience Building] Unpacking the parts (final day: Sunday)

Published: Sat, 11/28/20

Firstly: YOU get to PICK WHO you do business with.

It's weird that so many artists haven't internalized this part.

The group of people you choose to attract is INTENTIONAL.

People who will (eventually) seek you out.

One of the important concepts that Audience Building teaches (unpacks) is that choosing your ideal collector comes first. Your "smallest viable audience."

It's your starting point.

The "who" defines everything.

It informs the "what" and the "how."

The "what" and "how" is the next step that Audience Building unpacks.

Audience Building is powered by a few "engines."

I like the analogy of an engine. Once you've built these engines, they run and operate as an asset:

1. Collector Attraction Engine

2. Automated Follow Up Engine

The first engine creates the conditions (the framing) to attract your best collectors.

If you think of posture: the idea is to have your best people "leaning towards" you. Wanting more of what you've given them.

This earns attention (and trust).

The last Engine is your Automated Follow Up Engine. This is where selling your art comes into play. This a way to get paid for the work you do by following up with potential collectors.

There are no prerequisites. Again: Audience Building doesn't prescribe one way for you to do business. It presents options. You pick and choose.

This is the gist of what you'll build.

A leveraged asset.

If this resonates with you...
