What to do if you get accepted into a prestigious residency but can’t afford to pay for it

“Hello Brainard and fellow artists, I was recently accepted for an Artist in Residence at the DrawingInternational.com in Caylus, France for the month of Sept. A distinguished residence for sure given their connections but one in which the artist pays 50%, aside from air travel, a general travel expenses, aside from covering expenses at Home Before leaving.
It means I have to genérate a few $1000s before Sept. a Challenge which I have taken on gladly because I really really want this to be a successful enterprise.
I have two main sources for funding: one are a small List of collectors who have purchased in the past and other individuals who would have the means to pay well for my artwork.
The second source I think would be the Patrons and Sponsors route.
Brainard Carey could you give me suggestions or first steps to follow?
In the case of companies or corporaciones do you have ideas?
As for individual Patrons, I thought the Museo del Barrio since as a Mexican and American artist much of my drawing work and installations addresses cultural, social and identity issues.
Anyway, for a start. Comments?
Thank you, Antonia Guerrero”

If you want to hear my advice on how to get your residency funded so you don’t have to pay for it yourself, please grab a seat on Monday’s marathon training session (from 12pm to 1.30pm EST).
Give me 90 minutes, and I’ll give you my insider’s roadmap to get your first or next international residency and exhibition in the next 6 months (PLUS $5k from a patron to fund your residency).

This is for you if you are looking to understand how the Art World really works, so you can exhibit more this year, get international visibility and sell your art at high prices.
But let’s be honest about one thing:
I am not going to candy coat the process and say it is quick and easy to get accepted into a distinguished residency programme (or to get it fully funded). It is time consuming and it takes commitment.
That’s exactly why it is helpful to have a proven system you can follow step by step.
Hundreds of my students have used this roadmap to get into prestigious international residencies (without paying for it themselves).
Often artists tell me that just attending this free training got the ball rolling for them.
But don’t take my word for it:

After following the course on Grant Writing, I have just finished submitting my first ever Canada Arts Council grant application for the first ever artist residency program I'll be doing this August (courtesy of the International Recognition for Artists course 😉). Thank you, Brainard, and wish me luck!!
