Dear Artist,
I want to give you a picture of what this community looks like, because I think it is different from what you might imagine.
Praxis members are not beginners waiting to be taught. They are working artists, from their twenties to their eightties, across mediums
and across countries, doing things.
A few recent examples:
Mia was invited to participate in the Tryst Alternative Art Fair after a curator discovered her work through a Praxis directory. She did not apply. She was found.
Nick offered to gift a group of large cement paintings to the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas
City. The chief curator came to his studio. She photographed the work. The review process is ongoing.
Valerio, in Italy, was selected for an international biennial in Slovenia. He posted in our community: "I wish to thank Brainard for putting me on the right path since I joined Praxis."
Eliana was selected for a juried exhibition in Tokyo. Sabra received a grant for a
three-week residency in Costa Rica. Roy submitted to two printmaking open calls in the UK and was accepted to both. David is now represented by Gallery AP Space after years of quietly, consistently showing up.
I am not sharing these to impress you. I am sharing them because they reflect something true about this community: it moves. It is not a passive learning platform where people collect courses and do nothing. People here are
applying, submitting, reaching out, and reporting back.
That energy is contagious. And I think it is one of the most underrated things Praxis offers -- not a course or a curator connection alone, but a room full of people who are actually moving forward.
This week is a meaningful one for Praxis. The Portfolio is being updated and sent to our curator network this Saturday. If
you want your website included in that send, you would need to join as an annual member before Saturday morning.
That is just the calendar. I am not trying to manufacture anything.
Annual membership is $595 a year.
Monthly is $59 a month. The Portfolio is exclusive to annual members.

P.S. Maria, who attended her first NYC art fair as a Praxis member, put it this way: "I couldn't have had the confidence to attempt this without having been a Praxis member and realizing I am just as talented and unique as
other artists." Sometimes the most practical thing is exactly that: being reminded you belong.
