Dear Artist,
You know that moment when a gallery website announces its upcoming show—and you think, “Wait. How did they get that?”
Here’s how.
Someone saw their work. A curator. A juror. A director.
Not on Instagram. Not in a stack of unpaid open calls. But in a space that’s designed to connect artists with curators—like Praxis Center.
We’re
not saying social media doesn’t help. But it’s not enough.
And while the art world claims to be merit-based, it only rewards those who know how to be seen.
We’ve built Praxis Center to make that process visible, transparent, and accessible. Our Portfolio Review program is a curator-facing portal that’s already been used by:
- Raphael Gygax (curator-at-large at Kunsthaus
Zurich)
- Karen Comer Lowe (Spelman College Museum of Fine Art)
- Katherine Anne Paul (Birmingham Museum of Art)
- Raúl Zamudio (Biennial curator, formerly at WhiteBox NY)
These curators have chosen artists like Amy Kupferberg, Kiki Klimt, Mutlu Yılmazer, Stephanie Gengotti, Dan
Reisner, Marco Raimondo, and Margret Wibmer.
These names weren’t surfaced randomly. They were found—because their work was placed exactly where curators were already looking.
This is how it happens.
The price to join Praxis annually and get in the portfolio they are is still $595—for now. When it increases to $1,200 (soon), the door won’t close—but it’ll be more expensive to walk through. And the monthly option? Great if you’re exploring. But the portfolio? That’s for annual members only.
Warm regards,
Brainard Carey
