Dear Artist,
Here’s something the art world doesn’t want you to know:
Curators aren’t waiting for talent to fall from the sky. They’re looking—actively, weekly—and many of them are looking right here.
At Praxis Center, curators from museums and institutions across the globe are selecting artists from our portfolio. Not theoretically. Not hypothetically. Literally. Every. Week.
Last week, Britt
Salvesen, the Head Curator of Photography and Prints & Drawings at LACMA, selected five Praxis artists who stood out to her: Virginia Sharkey, Andrew Carnie, Sasha Shalmina, Maria-Agni, and Larry Eisenstein.
What struck her was not only the work—but the writing. Their artist statements (yes, developed through our Praxis Center courses) stood out for their clarity and power.
This is the real story no one tells: that
excellence paired with visibility is what gets you noticed.
And here’s the thing—they’re not stopping with one review. We’ve had curators like:
- Raphael Gygax from Kunsthaus Zurich (he chose Amy Kupferberg, Kiki Klimt, and Jamie Zimchek),
- Katherine Anne Paul from the Birmingham Museum of Art (who picked Jeffrey Hartman, Carolyn McDonald, Jordan Wong, Marco
Raimondo, and Mutlu Yılmazer),
- Dan Cameron, international biennial curator and Prospect New Orleans founder (who selected Glen Gauthier, Udi Cassirer, Don Keene—and again, Andrew Carnie and Maria-Agni),
- Laura Raicovich, former director of the Queens Museum, who picked Carolyn McDonald (yes, twice), Allan Baillie, and Sani Gulić.
This is not a case of artists sitting
quietly, waiting for their turn.
This is what happens when you build a portfolio that gets in front of decision-makers every week.
This is Praxis.
And we’re opening the door for you.
More tomorrow—on exactly how these curators are making their choices.
Warmly,
Brainard Carey

P.S. The annual membership is still $595—for now. That will change very soon. And when it does, it’s not coming back. The monthly option is $120, but the full year gets you into the portfolio. That’s where the curators are looking. Click here
