Hajnalka Somogyi curates a biennial of progressive art in a country that has a totalitarian ruler where censorship is everywhere. Sound familiar?
She explains how she navigates a territory much more severe than the current administration in the U.S.

Earlier this year, we had the privilege of hosting Hajnalka Somogyi at a
Praxis Roundtable -- a weekly Zoom call where Praxis students meet and interact with influential collectors, curators and gallerists.
Here are some highlights from that Roundtable:
Video Clip: How do
they overcome the challenges of media control and use social media to spread their message? Traditional media has become centralized and dominated by government influence, making independent media struggle for visibility. Since they have little funding, they focus on creating and circulating their own content online. Their team is decentralized, working remotely, and most members have other jobs, except for her, who took unpaid leave to focus on the Biennale.
Video Clip: How the curatorial structure of the Biennale is managed. The strategic board, made up of curators, defines the curatorial framework, ensuring some consistency. However, the partnerships and collaborations vary each time, creating a mix of different curators and contributors in
each edition of the Biennale.
As you can see, she finds a way to exhibit artists in a major international biennial without caving in to censorship…
Would you like to meet her?
As a Praxis member, you can!
- You get access to her contact information - as well as the private contact details of 300+ other prestigious collectors, curators and art dealers…
- When you enroll, you get access to the full, 1-hour recording of our Roundtable with her. The insights he shared will
show you how to reach her and how to make art in extreme political environments.
- You will meet a new art world insider like her every single week, live, at our Praxis Roundtable, which is a Zoom call with a different collector or curator each week…
- ✨ANNUAL MEMBERS ONLY 👉 portfolio inclusion in our Praxis Center Portfolio, which we send directly to curators each month. We’ve had artists contacted for studio visits, included in group shows, and
invited to submit proposals…
For example:
👉Praxis member Carolyn McDonald was selected by not one, but two different curators: Katherine Anne Paul and Laura Raicovich.
👉Dan Cameron, the curator behind Prospect New Orleans and the man who launched Faith Ringgold's retrospective, looked through
the Praxis Portfolio and picked five artists. Five. Among them: Maria-Agni, Glen Gauthier, Andrew Carnie, Udi Cassirer, and Don Keene.
👉 Katherine Anne Paul from
the Birmingham Museum of Art (who picked Jeffrey Hartman, Carolyn McDonald, Jordan Wong, Marco Raimondo, and Mutlu Yılmazer).
👉Raphael Gygax from Kunsthaus Zurich (he chose Amy Kupferberg, Kiki
Klimt, and Jamie Zimchek.)
This is what happens when you build a portfolio that gets in front of decision-makers every week. This is Praxis. - In addition, you’ll get my assistance to effectively reach out to the movers and shakers you meet at these Roundtables. I’ll give you two letter templates you can use, so that you don’t have to worry about what to say and will have a better chance of
getting a response back.
- Best part? Mentoring. You can ask me to personally edit these emails and letters before you send them out to make sure that they are compelling and you don’t get ghosted.
Plus: you also get personal access to me, Brainard Carey, and a suite of educational guides on topics ranging from social media tactics to pricing to reaching galleries and getting feedback on your art.
Join Praxis Center Membership today and unlock a truly international circle of art world decision-makers who can support your studio practice from the blank canvas to the museum acquisition!
Here
is the thing:
I’m willing to bet that if you ONLY showed up for the weekly Praxis Roundtables over Zoom* and met the collectors, curators and dealers that are there, without doing ANYTHING else, you will at the very least 3X your investment right away.
Which is why I offer a money back guarantee if you are not happy.
*(And if you are
unable to show up live for any of these sessions for whatever reason, you get the recording and the contact info of the speaker afterwards.)
