In the moment, our days feel like scattered threads—ordinary routines, unexpected turns, fleeting joys. Only later do they weave into a story we can see clearly. And at times, we are privileged to slow down long enough to consider how the seemingly unremarkable details of daily life become the building blocks of memory, meaning, and legacy.

Lexia Hachtmann joined us to discuss Waiting Room, her recent show at Yve Yang Gallery. As the result of a residency, Hachtmann recently found herself as a painter put in the position of an observer in a new place and was forced out of her comfort zone. Being in a space of discomfort, she says, is quite good for her practice. This became a starting point from which she worked forward to develop ideas for this recent show. Susan Louise Aberth sat down with us back in July of 2021. An Edith C. Blum Professor of Art History at Bard College, she spoke to us from her home in nearby Hyde Park. At the time, she was immersed in work on surrealism, in particular the women artists associated with surrealism. A second book to follow one written in 2004 was just about to release, titled Leonora Carrington: The Tarot.
