Our story begins on a dark, stormy night in Europe:

John Halpern was invited to Holland to create the Breath sculpture: a glass house that he lived in for 10 days, breathing interactively with about 10,000 plants.



So how did he build the glass house?

He went to the nearest glass corporation, and asked them for the materials. 

That corporation had a lot of wasted glass material they couldn’t use in industrial sales because of minor defects, so they gave John the glass... for free. 

But not only that...

Because the event itself - some guy living in a glass house breathing once a minute for 10 days - was fascinating to them as a public relations stunt, they even built the whole glass house for him!
