“How sad, how lovely, how short, how sweet” -Connie Converse To Anyone Who Ever Asks: The Life, Music and Mystery of Connie Converse Life is fleeting, that much we know, but in each moment, there is the opportunity to find something worth relishing. We wake every day to the unknown, and sometimes things may not go the way we planned or hoped, but as long as our eyes are open and there is breath in our bodies, we have the capacity to move forward. That is the most basic but perhaps the greatest gift of all. Areum Yang joined us to talk about her recent show, Home of Being, which ran from May 30 to July 3 at Derek Eller Gallery. Yang admitted that titling work and
exhibitions is one of the most difficult aspects of her process. For this show, she wanted to discuss the concept of home as more than just a physical space, capturing the constant motion and one’s time in space. To learn more about this and to hear a discussion of some of the specific works in the show, listen to the complete interview. Florencia Escudero spoke to us about Phygitalia, her recent exhibition that appeared at both Kristen Lorello Gallery and Rachel Uffner Gallery. The title is a word created by the artist, a combination of the words phygital (a newer term in tech that combines the physical and the digital to make a seamless interactive experience) and genitalia. This references
the works, which have to do with the back and forth between the physical and digital world while featuring very organic bodily shapes. To learn more, listen to the complete interview. Read the summary of this week's interviews and

Change is good. Although humans are generally programmed to avoid upheaval, sometimes, it can be the catalyst for a whole new chapter. For artists, change is just part of the deal. An art career does not follow a linear path; rather, it loops and curls, goes uphill and down, constantly changing and realigning. And rather
than fight that energy, the best thing artists can do is lean right into it. Bend and flex along the way. You simply never know when change that may initially seem unwelcome could turn out to be your next opportunity. Read more |

offers, residencies and more – all written by artists so that other artists can beware of situations where institutions treat artists badly, or that end up costing the artist money or are outright scams. |
