“Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle.” -Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland Do we ever truly know who we are? Or is life, from start to finish, a never-ending path of discovery on which we continually grow and change? Perhaps the answer
isn’t as black and white as that. Perhaps there is an element of change intermingled with some static personality points. And perhaps we eventually grow to understand some parts of ourselves while others remain a mystery. But isn’t this part of the adventure? The knowledge that, no matter what, nothing will ever be the same, again and again. Cristina Canale joined us to talk about her work featured in the exhibition Memento Vivere on view at Nara Roesler until September 7. The exhibition features 13 paintings and six drawings, all made between 2021 and 2023 and all previously unseen. To hear more, listen to the complete interview. Diana
Copperwhite chatted with us from Galway, Ireland, where she is based, though she also works in New York City. She has an upcoming show, Reflections in a Dark Mirror, at 532 Gallery in NYC and recently completed an
exhibition titled Onomatopoiea at Printworks in Galway. To hear more about her transatlantic career, listen to the complete interview. Read the summary of this week's interviews and resources. |
Eileen Jeng Lynch arrives to the museum with a strong background in politically and environmentally tinged curation and in community outreach, which meshes with the Bronx Museum’s focus on social justice. Jeng Lynch was previously senior curator of visual arts at the Bronx’s Wave Hill, a public garden and cultural center that frequently hosts exhibitions
and commissions. In this role, she organized solo exhibitions for emerging artists, thematic group exhibitions, and the residency program, curating a number of shows that took climate change and the environment as their theme. Members Click and Log In / Non-Members Click and Join |

When the time is right for you to turn your art into your livelihood, where do you turn first? How does one build a successful career in the art world, a place notorious for its roadblocks and exclusive members-only status? The truth is that you absolutely can forge a life as a working artist, you simply need the right tools, just like with anything else. One of those tools is
knowing what sort of opportunities are available – and there are a lot of them – here are a few to get you started. |
These are positive and / or negative reviews of galleries, art fairs, consultants, writers, online pay to play offers, residencies and more – all written by artists so that other artists can beware of situations where institutions treat
artists badly, or that end up costing the artist money or are outright scams.
