Yes, even to heavy-weight curators like Eva Respini, Raul Zamudio, Fatos Ustek...
That’s what I learned from Mick Jagger’s wife.
Several years ago I was an assistant to Mick Jagger’s ex-wife Bianca Jagger.
She was a human rights activist, trying to get people off death row. She would write to politicians, governors, newspapers and more.
I was hired to help her, and she taught me how writing - and the way you craft a letter - makes all the difference if you want a reply.
And she got through to these powerful people despite making a very tough ask.
As you can appreciate, it wasn’t a popular subject. It’s not like everyone supports getting a criminal off the death row who has done heinous things.
Definitely a tough ask! - in fact, a much tougher ask than asking a curator to
feature your work…
But don’t get me wrong, writing to powerful people who don’t know you is hard regardless.
I always remember her telling me, “Brainard, you can get to everyone through writing. You can get an
answer from anyone.”
You just need to know exactly how to craft a letter so you get a response.
That’s why I’m running a workshop on Monday (March 6th) where we’re going to write a letter to introduce you
to a heavy-weight curator and submit your art for their next show.
A real hands-on, get-something-done session.
You will walk out of the workshop with your letter DONE.
Written. Edited. Ready to be sent out.
Who do you send it to?
Whoever you want to send it
to! Or if you join Praxis Center after the workshop, you’ll have the private contact info of 150+ powerful curators to send it.
In Praxis Center, we hold a Roundtable over Zoom where a new curator, collector, or gallery owner comes in every week...
In these live roundtables, not only do you learn exactly what each curator is interested in and thus how to engage them…
… but you also have over 150 curators with different profiles to work with already.
And if you use the letters I’m going to teach you on Monday’s workshop, the chance of getting a response is extremely high…
Best part?
As a bonus, I’m also
going to show you how to develop a *genuine* relationship with a curator.
Very different than asking them to show your art or not - a relationship could keep giving, it’s mutual and ongoing.
Want in on the
workshop?
It is free and there is no registration, just use this Zoom link below to join the conversation at 2pm EST this Monday, March 6th.
I will send a few more reminders before we go
live.
