A company sponsors an artist - case history
Published: Fri, 01/06/23
John Halpern was invited to Holland to create the Breath sculpture: a glass house that he lived in for 10 days, breathing interactively with about 10,000 plants.

So how did he build the glass house?
He went to the nearest glass corporation, and asked them for the materials.
That corporation had a lot of wasted glass material they couldn’t use in industrial sales because of minor defects, so they gave John the glass... for free.
But not only that...
Because the event itself - some guy living in a glass house breathing once a minute for 10 days - was fascinating to them as a public relations stunt, they even built the whole glass house for him!
What if YOU could get top corporations to do the same for your work?
Donating space, donating materials, donating money…
Next week, I am going to show you the techniques artists like John use to land these sponsorships.
On Monday, the 9th January at 1:00 pm EST, I am running a live workshop on how to secure funding for your art from project-specific patrons (even if you can’t write and the thought of asking money makes you want to puke).
PLUS I’ll take you behind the scenes of sponsorships your fellow artists have secured, so you can see what works in the real world today (and what doesn’t).
This is what we are covering:
1. How to frame the dream you have, be it a painting, a sculpture or a film, so that it gets funded (This old-school fundraising technique used by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov practically guarantees that your letters will be read with pleasure and responded to generously)
2. Finding patrons and corporate sponsors who would be interested in funding that dream (Use the tip I show you on slide 51 to identify your first 20 potential patrons)
3. Approaching patrons for funding PLUS why you need to add this phrase about your work to your correspondence in a pandemic (When you do this you get ongoing support that continues year after year as opposed to a one-time donation, because you are seen as a CAUSE as opposed to an artist that needs something)

PS: There will be a replay, but only for subscribers who register. So I recommend clicking that link even if you can’t make it to the live session.
