On October 27th, we have Kimberly Gould coming to the Praxis Roundtable.
I highly encourage you to meet her at this Zoom call and then reach out to her afterwards, because she is an art advisor that sells work to collectors all over the world, and she advises them on how to build their collections.
Yes, yes, I hear you… I know that most artists find it intimidating to reach out to these powerful figures directly…
I’ve even heard some artists say they would rather puke in their purse than hit ‘send’...
… so I want to teach you a template you can use to make sure your letters are well-received.
Here is the template:
Dear Ms Gould,
I was in the Praxis Roundtable yesterday and it was a great pleasure to hear about your work building art collections all over the world.
I particularly liked when you addressed (Insert something you really liked about her talk here) and also when you said (insert another tidbit that got your attention.)
You mentioned your interest in XYZ, and I am also interested in that and made a series of paintings that explored that theme.
May I send you some work? If so, would you prefer a website or a PDF?
Thank you again for an inspiring and informative discussion.
Sincerely,
First name Last name.
Of course, you’ll have to personalize this and show how your work connects to their curatorial focus, and present your work in a context she can understand.
This is something Praxis Center Membership can help you with.
For example, you can ask me to personally edit your emails and letters before you reach out to the curators, collectors, gallerists and dealers you meet at these Roundtables.
Plus, as part of your membership, a professional editor will edit your artist statement + bio + sponsor letters and
applications to make sure that your letters are responded to. That means an actual person (me) has your back, as well as the editor (Julia).
Join Praxis membership to (a) meet Kimberly Gould live on Oct 27th + (b) get her contact info
after the Roundtable + (c ) get my personal feedback/edits on your letter before you reach out to her
Enrolment closes on Friday.
