“The humblest tasks get beautified if loving hands do them.” -Louisa May Alcott
There is no such
thing as a meaningless task. Life is a series of small moments, but each of them weaves together to create the whole and the sum of their parts becomes the life we live. In each moment, we make decisions that carry us forward on our path, and each of these decisions, however small, holds the power to shape the course of the rest of our lives. Every moment is the butterfly’s wing, altering the current of the air and creating weather patterns that affect the farthest shores.
Anna-Eva Bergman: Thomas Schlesser, the director of the Hans Hartung and Anna-Eva Bergman foundation joined us in early September to discuss Anna-Eva Bergman: Revelation on view through October 22 at Perrotin New York. Bergman is a lesser known artist, but this exhibition as well as two museum shows seek to change that status. Among the details of her life that we discussed, is her former home under the blue sky of the French Riviera, a source of inspiration for the late artist’s work. To hear this conversation about a fascinating life spent in the arts, listen to the complete interview.
Noah Jemisin spoke to us in early September in the midst of a deluge of rain. He has two shows currently on view – a solo exhibit at Skoto Gallery titled
Now and Then: 1974-2022 as well as work included in the current MOMA exhibit, Just Above Midtown:
Changing Spaces. This show features work from artists who worked with Linda Goode Bryant, who started her gallery, Just Above Midtown, to, in her own words, “present African-American artists on the same platform with other established artists.” To hear more about both of these shows and the history of JAM gallery, listen to the complete interview.
