Q: What is an Archetype and what does this have to do with selling my art?
The concept of an archetype appears in film and art of all kinds. The “hero” is the most common archetype we see or hear about. An archetype can be a pattern of behavior or a main model that other patterns of behavior emulate, for example, the inner forces that influence the making, sharing and selling of art.
How and why you do
or do not share and sell your art on a regular basis is connected to your patterns that are unconscious but can be changed through strategy and behavioral change.
The Archetype, as it relates to our psychological health is a theory based on the teachings of noted Psychoanalyst, Carl Jung, one of the founders of modern analytical
psychology.
Q: What does my Archetype mean?
A: The Archetype you are - you have unconsciously chosen and it guides almost everything in your life.
For example, if you are a Sun archetype then you are the type person that does not like to network. In fact you hate the word itself, but you do love to shine your bright rays of art on everyone, like a gift for the world. By recognizing that you hate networking, you can find a way around it so you either don't have to do it all, or find a way to make it easier. Then when that
is taken care of, your light is easier to spread, so to speak. So your method of promotion will likely not involve typical “networking.”
Conscious thoughts affect motivation and are also influenced by your Archetype, your specific personality traits.
For example, the Sun archetype is so consumed with spreading good vibes, it can overlook their own needs, thus your conscious thoughts of sharing are good, but to an extreme, they can affect your ability to motivate yourself to do tasks that are about your own personal and artistic growth.
Your
archetype is essentially the way you move through the world, your personality, and the more you understand it, the more you can achieve what you want to in life.
Knowledge is freedom, because the more you know about yourself, the more you can do what you want to do - like making art and sharing it and selling it.
Because you never get in the way of yourself :)
