the collector said "I don't understand it, I'm not interested in this kind of work

An artist I know, Jeremy, has a studio in Williamsburg in Brooklyn. He met a collector at a bar and asked if he would visit his studio. The collector said he would visit and they exchanged numbers.

The visit took place in person at the studio.

The collector came into the studio, Jeremy said hello, and let the collector see his paintings, of which he had set up 5  - 48 x 48" paintings.

Jeremy was silent as the collector began looking at each painting, carefully.

Then the collector asked Jeremy why he was making these particular paintings?

Jeremy said something like, "I make them because I must, and I make them because I like to paint."

Then there was no more conversation and the collector looked over the four paintings again. Jeremy waited pensively.

Finally the collector said, “Thank you for showing me your work, I have to go now.”

Jeremy was a bit shocked at him leaving so soon and said boldly, "did you like the work?"

The collector replied "I don't understand it, I'm not interested in this kind of work".

Then the collector walked out the door and left and Jeremy was devastated.

Jeremy told me the whole story a few days after this happened and was still feeling very hurt, and I asked him if he had more visits lined up, and he said "I'm never doing that again"

And that’s a shame, because the right collectors can make an artist’s career if they buy enough of your work.

They can donate your work to a museum, which helps give it value and importance…

They can introduce you to their friends.

They can keep purchasing work to give you an income

So I want to make sure that what happened to Jeremy doesn’t happen to you.

I want to teach you how to master the art of talking to collectors so they want to buy your art (even if you didn’t grow up rich and have no idea how to talk to billionaires)...

… how to add credibility and prestige to your name so they feel honoured to meet and collect you

… how to get a dealer or collector to sell your work around the world right now

Wait, what’s that? You don’t know any rich collectors or have contact info to reach them?

I’ll help with that too.

Join us live on 21st February at 1:00 PM EST for the Collectors Webinar (free) and you’ll discover exactly how to find a major collector and get them to buy your work.

>>> You can register for the workshop here (just click the link, no opt in required) <<<

There’s also a big show-up live bonus that you get just by showing up live...it’s free and it’s fantastic!
